Ready position – Padel
The ready position at net is something we have talked about a lot. The reason why most of the players are missing their volleys at net is because they don’t have their racket up high. In this article we will talk about the right ready position and how you can practice this.
One of the most common problems at net is taking the ball late. When you take the ball late, your racket is still behind you, which means your racket face is open. The trajectory of the ball will then go up and it’s likely that your ball ends at the backglass. Reason for this is that they don’t have their racket up high and starting with their rackets too low.
Most players know they are doing this wrong and admit that they drop their rackets and start watching how their partner is playing the rally. Maintain your racket position when your partner is playing the rally to prevent being late for the next ball coming towards you.
How to practice
One of the best ways to practice this is to have your racket up high in the warm up. When you start doing it in the warming up you will do it in the game as well. Because in the warming up every ball is coming to you, so it’s easy to get in that ready position. When the game starts expect the ball to come to you and always keep your racket high.
